2024 has already been such a proactive year for Berlin/Reykjavik garage rock band, Matching Drapes. Consisting of members Arndis, Jacquie, Adrian, Niclas and Liam, already the band has released a string of tracks, and with their debut EP on the horizon, recently released their latest track All My Friends Are (Snakes).
This is such a punchy song which has such outspokenly honest lyrics, written in a way we can all resonate with one way or the other. When it comes to life we can sometimes be cautious about letting new people into our lives, but what I like about this song, is that it also encourages us to think about our inner circle too. We can love our friends, but that doesn’t mean they are always so sweet and innocent, they are as capable of being snakes as anyone else.
I really like the catchy lyrics, especially the lines ‘running from the snakes, all gas no brakes, running from the snakes, all gas no brakes, all of my friends snakes, and all of my friends are snakes and they like games’. You cannot help but sing along to it because it is just so infectious.
Having enjoyed what this track has to offer, it is making me even more excited to hear the debut EP. Hopefully we don’t have to wait much longer, but for now I will cranking up the volume for All My Friends Are (Snakes) and enjoying it to the max.
