A new fashion designer has just arrived on the scene. Luroq London announced its debut as an emerging fashion house that will redefine versatility through structure, emotion and movement.

Their website and new collection was launched on Thursday 18th December, the brand was founded this year by Creative Director, Sanya Yadav. Luroq is designed for the modern urban nomad, bridging the gap between timeless luxury and the demands of contemporary living, meaning their designs are versatile and can be worn for any occasion.

Born in the heart of two worlds, London’s busy streets and India’s workmanship. The pieces are inspired by the architecture of the city that never stops and the nuanced individuality of its people. They are committed to their craftsmanship, quality and fashion forwardness. Luroq have refined the sleek tailoring of luxury with everyday streetwear, crafting designs made to transition effortlessly between occasions without sacrificing comfort or  modernity. All of these reflect the current trends of today, yet they have made their own twist on those trends, adapting seamlessly across seasons and occasions for individuals who live dynamic, fast-paced lives.

Their distinct fabric choices combined with intricate details such as corseted structures, asymmetry and layered textures. All their garments are made using fabrics that are reused and upcycled from locally sourced, high-quality materials (that were originally produced in the finest mills and factories in the UK, France, Switzerland and Japan), the fabrics feel as refined as they look, and offer both durability and a premium hand-feel.

They exist to accelerate a positive change for the environment, they founded Lyroq as a collaborative, experimental lab to research, test and learn how to inspire reuse and reduce consumer waste. They have partnered with On a Mission, a group of earth-loving volunteers who help businesses and individuals calculate and compensate for their emissions through direct investment in local reforestation projects.

I had a look at their first collection and absolutely loved it. The geometric shapes and asymmetrical necklines bring a new take on the current fashion trends. It reimagines self-expression and brings timeless style to the looks.  The collection mainly incorporates suede and denim fabrics, with no stand out patterns so it gives a modern minimalistic feel.

I selected a few of our favourite pieces out of the collection.

The first piece I selected was this beautiful olive green suede mini dress with a corset fitted top section with a white balloon style bottom section, it has been paired with a matching olive green blazer that has a geometric shape giving the shoulders a blocky look, which we saw similarly in the 80s but has recently started trending again. I love this because it looks so elegant and flattering to wear. I  could see myself wearing this on both a day of shopping and to go for food in a nice restaurant.

The next piece I selected was this oxford blue mini dress. I like this because it also looks like a bomber jacket that flows into a dress, the leather detail on the arms and the hips blend perfectly with the dress. The arms are puffy and in the style of a bomber jacket and match quite well with the rest of the collection. I like the way the have designed the bottom half of the dress as it looks like there is a part that wraps around and buttons into place, it also gives the dress a little slit that  is asymmetrical as part of the slit goes further down than the other which gives the edge a nice shape.

Now, I think this piece is my favourite out of the whole collection. It is a denim set, which is made up of what I can only describe as a blazer combined with a military style jacket (think Cheryl Cole performing Fight For This Love on The X Factor) and with hints of a trench coat. I love the oversized open collar; it really sets the piece off. It then has blocky shoulders, similar to the rest of the collection giving it the architectural shape, with epaulettes on them which coincides with the military jacket the arms go down into a cuff strap that gives a flared sort of look to it and really sets the whole sleeve off.

But, what I really love about the piece is the different patterned fabric that drapes down from the shoulders and down onto the mid-front. The geometric shape of the pattern really ties the piece together and makes it stand out  on a shelf and definitely within a bustling city, the pattern also has a look of tartan which I love. The jeans are wide-leg and have cargo style pockets and are again incorporating the beautiful patterned fabric like the jacket. They really pull the whole outfit together and would look great on a night out. However, what is good about this is that you could also mix and match so both items can be re-worn for different occasions.

There is also a different variation of the jacket which I am obsessed with, instead of having the button details like the other one, this one has a belt detail which gives the jacket a flared bottom that ties in really well with the cuffs, it creates a really nice silhouette to the look. The sleeves are also different sleeves, while the other had a bit more of a straight sleeve. This one has a slightly bishop sleeve shape which again enhances the shapeline of the garment.

Overall I really like the entire collection, I love the variety of choice and style there is, and I am looking forward to seeing what comes of Luroq as I think they will make some incredible collections in the future.
