The Warning are keeping our hunger satisfied with the release of their 4th album ‘Keep Me Fed’.
The Mexico-born sister trio consists of Daniela ‘Dany’ (Guitar, Lead Vocals, Piano), Paulina ‘Pau’ (Drums, Vocals, Piano) and Alejandra ‘Ale’ Villarrreal (Bass, Piano, Backing Vocals) and draw their strength and power from a lifetime of sisterhood and music. Having racked up thousands of miles on the road, generated hundreds of millions of streams and left countless fans in awe the girls have devoted themselves to their shared childhood dream since their childhood in Monterrey, Mexico.
Having performed alongside a number of all of our favourite bands like Muse, Foo Fighters, Guns N Roses, Royal Blood, The Pretty Reckless, they’ve proven they’ve got what it takes and have a relative comfortability that can not only ignite stages across the globe but who can also appear in features by Vanity Fair, People, Cosmopolitan and Glamour. Did I mention Pepsi also chose them as the face of Pepsi Black in Mexico?! As well as making their debut at the MTV VMAs in 2023 - Is there anything this band can’t do?
While they’ve had a steady rise in the past decade, their latest album- released 2 years after their last album ‘Error’ - ‘Keep Me Fed’ takes their journey to new heights with their journey on perfecting their craft. Straight in, you’re immediately pulled in by the punches and infective riffs with ‘Six Feet Deep’ and ‘S!ck’; it’s clear the Villarreal Sisters are hungrier than ever!
As drummer Pau says:
...throughout the whole process, the work was consuming us” …“By impacting everything we did, the album kept us fed both creatively and personally. We’re inviting other people to participate and consume it too
It’s a feast of powerful riffs, electrifying beats and arena-filling vocals. It’s almost criminal but you can’t help but want more as stated in ‘More’ - “Something criminal but I can’t fight it”, “Yet you leave me begging for more”.
However, a personal favourite of mine has to be ‘Hell You Call A Dream’ with its powerful vocals, intense passion and rage illuminating through, it’s 2 minutes and 56 seconds of pure perfection. After all, it’s a song about pursuing your dream and struggling with conflicting thoughts with that love-and-hate relationship you have with it.
As the first verse says “I’ve been invaded by the need to stay inside this cage, Day after day I’m hurting, but I choose to stay this way”, I mean after all we did choose this life, right? That thrill we all need to feel alive yet, you still feel like you’re drowning through that gratification but yet you can’t give it up - evident in the chorus “Give me something to believe, In this hell you can call a dream, Colliding every time, The Chaos drives me wild like an animal, just wanna breathe”. But it also feeds the fundamental nature of what it’s like to be human, after all, we all need something to believe ‘In This Hell We Call A Dream’.
‘Keep Me Fed’ is 38 minutes of pure anthems, and continues the evolution of the sisters as musicians and songwriters. If this record and its predecessors are any induction of what’s to come there is no doubt that the future is bright for this trio.
The latest album ‘Keep Me Fed’ from The Warning, is out on all major streaming platforms now - trust me it’s one you don’t want to miss!
