I Tried the Rolling Stones' New Fragrance So You Don't Have to Wonder - Urban Jungle Review

Okay, so I need to talk to you about Urban Jungle by Subversive Scents (the fragrance line from The Rolling Stones, yes, that Rolling Stones), because it's genuinely not what I expected and I've been reaching for it more than anything else in my collection lately.

Quick disclosure before we dive in: I'm a sucker for a good backstory, and this one's got a great one. Urban Jungle is named after the homecoming leg of the band's 1990 Steel Wheels tour - all fire, graffiti, and that electric, slightly chaotic energy of a packed stadium show. You can absolutely feel that DNA in the juice. This isn't a polite, "safe for the office" scent. It's got attitude.

First Impressions: The Bottle

Let's start superficial for a second because presentation matters. The bottle is a chunky cylindrical flacon in a deep, almost military green, topped with a black turn-and-spray pump and the unmistakable tongue-and-lips logo. It doesn't look like every other minimalist glass bottle on your shelf - it looks like it belongs on a nightstand next to a leather jacket, not tucked in a drawer. It's also a genderless fragrance, which I love, because some of the best scents I own are the ones I've "borrowed" from a boyfriend's bathroom shelf.

How It Actually Wears

Here's the breakdown, because the notes on paper and the notes on skin can be two very different stories.

The opening is a burst of grapefruit and bergamot - sharp, juicy, a little bit sparkly - but it's immediately grounded by hemp, which gives it this cool, slightly herbal edge instead of going full fruit-bowl. It reads more "confident girl walking into a room" than "candy shop."

As it settles, the heart is where it gets interesting. Rhubarb and sweet grass bring a tart, green freshness, while juniper adds a bit of that gin-botanical bite. It's not a floral heart at all, which if you're bored of florals (no shade, but same), is honestly refreshing.

The dry-down is the part that had me hooked. Vetiver, "hot concrete," and worn leather settle in and turn this into something smoky, textured, and a little bit moody - like walking past a corner store at midnight with the city still humming around you. It's not heavy or overpowering, more like a warm hum against your skin that lingers for hours without shouting.

Longevity-wise, it holds up - this isn't a scent that fades by lunchtime, and a lot of reviewers online back that up, with plenty of people calling it bold, long-lasting, and worth a full-size bottle after trying the sample.

Who Is This For?

If your fragrance wardrobe is mostly vanilla and pink pepper, Urban Jungle will feel like a plot twist - in a good way. It's for the days you want to feel a little edgier than usual: leather jacket energy, "I have somewhere to be" energy. It genuinely works both day and night, but I'll be honest, it comes alive after dark. Think gig nights, first dates you're a little nervous about, or just walking into work wanting people to wonder what you're wearing.

The Sustainability Bit (Because It Actually Matters)

Beyond smelling good, Urban Jungle is made in France with an emphasis on reduced-impact sourcing, and the brand leans into recycled packaging materials and refill options across the range. Not the whole reason to buy a fragrance, obviously, but a nice bonus when the juice itself is this good.

The Verdict

Urban Jungle isn't trying to be liked by everyone, and that's exactly why it works. It's £99 for 100ml, which sits comfortably in "treat yourself" territory rather than impulse-buy, but for a scent this distinctive - smoky, green, a little rebellious - it earns its spot. If you want a

signature scent that doesn't smell like everyone else's signature scent, this is worth a sniff.
