A Full Review of Geek & Gorgeous: The Science-Led Indie Brand You Need to Know About
There's a particular kind of satisfaction that comes from a perfectly streamlined skincare routine - every product chosen with intention, every step serving a purpose. I've been on a bit of a quest to find a brand that could do it all without making me feel like I need a chemistry degree and a trust fund. Enter Geek & Gorgeous (G&G), the indie brand founded by Judit Rácz, a computer scientist turned cosmetic chemist, and the brilliant mind behind INCIDecoder, and honestly, I'm a little obsessed.

The Brand Philosophy (A Love Language, Actually)
What immediately drew me in wasn't a pretty Instagram grid or a celebrity endorsement, it was the ethos. Geek & Gorgeous is built on a genuinely refreshing premise: science-backed formulas with transparently disclosed percentages of active ingredients, gorgeous textures, fragrance-free formulations, and a price point that doesn't make you wince. No vague "peptide complex" claims. No mystery concentrations. Just honest, effective skincare made by someone who actually gets it.
Judit started the brand after years of developing INCIDecoder, a globally respected ingredient database trusted by professionals and enthusiasts alike. She knows her stuff, and it shows in every formula.
My Routine (Built Entirely by Geek & Gorgeous)
There's something wonderfully satisfying about having your whole routine from one brand. The products are designed to work together, the textures layer beautifully, and the whole experience feels cohesive rather than cobbled together from a dozen different brands with a dozen different philosophies. Here's what I've been using:
Morning
Jelly Joker Low pH Gentle Cleanser — My morning cleanse is quick and this is the perfect companion for it. The cushiony jelly texture is genuinely unlike anything else I've used; it's soothing, doesn't strip, and rinses completely clean.
Cheer Up Liquid Exfoliant — A 5% Mandelic Acid + 1% BHA formula that works on the surface and inside the pores. It's gentle enough to use regularly without irritating, which is why it earns a morning spot in my routine.
Liquid Hydration Toner — The unsung hero. This spray toner with 5% Panthenol + Natural Moisturising Factors is the kind of step you don't realise you're missing until you add it. It's feather-light, hydrating, and the mist format makes it genuinely enjoyable to use.
aPAD 20% Azeclair Serum — For my skin concerns around uneven tone and redness, this has been a real standout. It contains 6% PAD, a potent azelaic acid derivative, at a concentration you'd expect from a much pricier product. Water-light and completely non-sticky.
HA 5 Light Serum — Five forms of hyaluronic acid that actually hydrate without the gloopy, sticky finish I've come to dread from other HA serums. The Light version is perfect for my combination skin and layers brilliantly over everything else.
Happier Barrier Moisturiser — A rich-but-not-heavy moisturiser with 7% Squalane, 3% skin-identical lipids, and Green Tea Polyphenols. It seals everything in beautifully and my skin feels genuinely soft, not just coated, after using it.
Evening
Mighty Melt Cleansing Balm (on makeup/SPF days) — This is genuinely on par with high-end balms I've paid three times as much for. It melts down to a silky oil, removes everything without effort, and rinses completely clean. No greasy residue whatsoever.
Jelly Joker — The second cleanse to make sure skin is properly prepped.
Liquid Hydration Toner — Same as the AM, because it's that good.
B-Bomb 10% Niacinamide Serum — What sets this apart from the sea of niacinamide serums out there is the formula: it contains Sarcosine to further help normalise oil production, and it's one of the rare ones that manages to be non-drying and non-sticky. A small detail that makes a big difference.
A-Game Retinal Serum — The one that really got me. A-Game was the first budget-friendly retinal serum on the market, and it uses the same stabilised, sustained-release Retinaldehyde found in much more expensive formulas. I started with A-Game 5 (0.05% Retinal), if you're new to retinoids, that's the place to begin, and it's been gentle, effective, and completely un-scary. You can build up to A-Game 10 or 20 as your skin adapts.
Happier Barrier — The perfect closer to the evening routine.

What's Genuinely Impressive
Beyond the individual products, a few things stand out about G&G as a whole:
The transparency is real. Every product lists the exact percentages of active ingredients, not hidden behind umbrella terms or diluted into insignificance. That kind of honesty builds trust in a way that no marketing campaign can.
The textures are genuinely excellent. G&G knows their customers layer serums, sometimes 2 or 3 at a time, and they've formulated accordingly. Everything is lightweight, fast-absorbing, and plays beautifully with others. Not a single pill, not a single sticky layer.
The price-to-performance ratio is exceptional. We're talking serums from £7.50, moisturisers from £8.50, and their cult-favourite C-Glow Vitamin C Serum (their global best-seller, selling one per minute worldwide) at under £12. For the quality and concentration of actives you're getting, these prices feel almost unreasonably good.
Everything is fragrance, colourant, and drying alcohol-free. The whole range. No exceptions.
Would I Repurchase?
Wholeheartedly, yes. Every single product. I've reached that genuinely lovely place where my routine feels completely settled, no gaps to fill, no wondering if something better is out there. There's a real satisfaction in committing fully to one brand that you trust, and Geek & Gorgeous has earned that trust entirely.
If you're just starting out with the brand, I'd suggest the Jelly Joker and B-Bomb as your entry points, approachable, versatile, and immediately gratifying. Then, when you're ready to level up, the A-Game Retinal range and aPAD are where the real magic happens.
You can shop the full range at geekgorgeous.co.uk or in Superdrug.
All products reviewed were used as part of a complete routine over an extended period. Routine was personalised for my skin type and concerns.
