crunch Delivers London’s Most Irresistible Bites

If there were ever a culinary uprising worth getting behind, it’s happening between two slices of bread at crunch. Tucked into the vibrant chaos of London’s food scene, this independent sandwich joint doesn’t just make sandwiches — it crafts edible events. And their star? Michael's Chicken. Aptly named, unapologetically bold, and outrageously satisfying.
From the first bite, Michael's Chicken lives up to its name with a toasted outer shell that gives way to a perfectly engineered interior — a riot of textures and flavors that hit every note: salty, spicy, tangy, creamy. It's not just a sandwich; it's a sensory explosion.
What makes it so unforgettable? Let’s start with the chicken — buttermilk-brined, fried to golden perfection, and seasoned like someone whispered state secrets into the spice blend. It crackles with every bite, juicy within, encased in a crust that would make southern grandmothers weep with pride. Layered with house-made pickles that snap with vinegar brightness, shredded lettuce for freshness, and a punchy sauce that dances between heat and umami, this is comfort food for the bold.

The bread — oh, the bread — is pillowy yet sturdy, toasted just enough to handle the heft without collapsing. It holds the flavors like a seasoned diplomat: no leaks, no mess, just structural integrity and buttery bliss. Let's not forget the 1000 layer potatoes (the crispiest most delicious potatoes) and the fried lasagna bites, the BEST sides to your sandwich!
We caught up with Sacha, one of the co-founders of crunch for a quick fire questions and here's what he said:
How did crunch start?
Crunch started as an experiment with my best friend Michael Medovnikov which turned into reality at the Prince Arthur, a small independent pub in Old Street. We met the culinary mind Joni Francisco in a nightclub and the rest is history.

Why does crunch mean to you?
This project is more than just sandwiches for me, it's really a project of passion and purpose and I hope it translates into offering something uncompromising, honest and true to the people of London and beyond.
What is the best sandwich on the planet?
The Patty Melt, of course. As much as we tried to do it, nothing beats the flavour of that!
Describe crunch in one word?
Honest.
What is next for crunch?
A lot of exciting plans both in London and abroad with in mind to preserve the freshness of the brand as much as possible!

And while Michael's Chicken might be the headline act, the entire menu is a showcase of sandwich wizardry. Every bite across the board feels like the result of obsession — in the best way. The attention to detail, the balance of flavors, the joy of indulgence without pretense.
What crunch does so brilliantly is elevate the humble sandwich without overcomplicating it. They understand the magic is in the crunch, the warmth, the salt-slicked sauces and contrasting textures — the kind of food that makes you close your eyes, nod slowly, and immediately plan your next visit.
The Crunch isn’t just the best sandwich in London — it’s a declaration. A sandwich revolution has begun, and after tasting this masterpiece, resistance is deliciously futile.
★★★★★ – Crispy, juicy, unforgettable. Long live The Crunch.
