Picture This Release New Single “Giants”

“Giants” reawakens our inner child's hopes as Picture This teams up with Michael Schulte.

We all have days that we reminisce about our childhood, the freedom, the openness, the wonder that we kept within our eyes of things that we couldn't fully understand yet. Our expressions, no fear of asking questions and ultimately, the dreams we'd have of what we could become as we grew older, the “light bulb” moments that never dimmed. “Giants” is a strong and powerful track that holds on to all those things that we had as children. 

German singer-songwriter, Michael Schulte joins Picture This on this single, a song the band have been waiting to share with their fan base for some time. Written and recorded in Hamburg, Germany. The collaboration came so easily, Michael grew up on Irish music making it a personal connection to the song. 

“I grew up on Irish music and idolized so many Irish musicians—that’s how I found my way into music,” he explains. “To now release a track with one of the most iconic Irish bands of our time is a huge honor. The guys are incredibly nice and super relaxed—it was pure fun creating this song together.”

For Ryan and the band, hearing Michael sing while they wrote and recorded the single was a highlight of the process. Ryan rates Michael as a “top-level singer and artist”.

The songwriting takes us through a journey from childhood to adulthood as the song reflects on life growing up. We've all had bedroom forts and staring at the wonder of the stars above us, playing inside and outside with our friends, it's a song with personal connections for everyone as you reminisce on the memories we made as kids ourselves. 

It takes us into where we find ourselves as adults now, carrying weights of the world upon our shoulders, but still reminding us that the little child we once was is still inside us with all the hopes and dreams still very much alive. It's something that Ryan reflects on; 

“Throughout our lives, experiences can chip away at our childlike wonder and blind naivety. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can maintain—or regain—that pure, unashamed confidence we were born with. Through friendships, through love, and through the awareness that we control our own destiny, we can still be giants.”

“Giants” from the opening of rhythmic mandolin to the vocals of both Ryan and Michael, blends the band's strong storytelling with Schulte's warm and distinctive vocals creates a powerful, reflective song whilst having that festival hooking chorus “we can be giants”. All throughout it creates feelings of hope, resilience and one that reawakens the dreams of your inner child. The powerful dreamers that we all are.
