‘Spine’ is the latest single from Newcastle-based siblings Twayn.

With a growing catalogue of anthems and a live show that’s pure emotional theatre, these 20-year-old singer/songwriters are making waves in the North East and beyond, having caught the idea of the legendary Jools Holland. The sibling duo has just announced that Twayn will be supporting Jools Holland on his 2025 Winter Tour at The Royal Albert Hall, O2 Apollo Manchester, Cardiff Arena and Bristol Beacon which is pretty impressive this early in their careers.

Twayn is known for rich, sibling harmonies and strong lyrics that speak to the challenges of Gen-Z. From peer pressures to friendship difficulties and tricky romantic relationships, Twayn throws a spotlight on unrealistic ideals to encourage lower expectations. The girls’ latest (17th) release, ‘Spine’, talks about being in a ‘situationship’ with someone who isn’t right for you and the epiphany when you realise that you’re both looking for different things, but

have you the strength to move on? “He broke my spine so I can’t leave”

Twayn’s lyrics provide a blunt appraisal of a modern situationship with strong earworms and

mature, lyrical precision. The sibling duo write with incredible honesty and vulnerability, all set against a backdrop of their trademark sound of beautifully blended harmonies.

Possibly their strongest song yet, ‘Spine’ was first played live in December 2024 when Twayn was honoured to be asked to support Jools Holland and his Rhythm Blues Orchestra at Newcastle’s City Hall. As a nod to this special moment, at the beginning of the track you will hear the actual applause recorded from that event. This is followed by a gasping of breaths, alluding to sobbing in a bathroom as the lyrics to go on to explain a desperate turning point in a relationship. This is the epiphany when it dawns that you both want different things but the hurt and damage caused leave you questioning whether you have the self-confidence to move on.

Spine, the latest track from Twayn will be released on Friday 12th September. For further information please visit https://twayn.co.uk.
