Snow Patrol: An Intimate Night Celebrating The New Album

Appearing officially as the trio, Gary Lightbody (lead singer), Nathan Connelly (Lead Guitarist, Vocals) and Johnny Mcdaid (Piano) graced the 1300 capacity, “The New Century” in Manchester for an intimate gig having just released their first album since 2018, “The Forest is the Path” on Friday (13th September).

A mix of the chart topping classics with some of the new tracks from the album, it was a short but sweet intimate gig that connected the crowd with Nathan and the trio on stage.

Greeted with a great reception, it was clear after the first song that Gary can still connect with a crowd no matter the size he's playing too as he explained the effects of having a sub bass speaker below the floor of the stage causing him to clatter his teeth whilst singing. His Irish charm and wit bring a laugh from the audience with his description of what a sub bass speaker is.

The explanation also let the audience know how they could hear a bass without a bass guitar after Paul Wilson left alongside Jonny Quinn in 2023.

Three songs featured from the new album, the lead single, “All”, the album title, “The Forest is The Path” and “The Beginning”. All receiving a great reception and a sing along from the crowd, showing that despite them being a duo and concerns of making the album, Snow Patrol haven't lost their magic and voices through “All” were a testament to this!!

The crowd also remained in great voice with a shout to play “Run” a second time straight when it finished with Nathan quipping, “again? We've got other songs you know” with a good chuckle from the audience in response.

“Chasing Cars”, “Open your Eyes” and to finish the set off, “Just Say Yes” all made an appearance on the set list much to the crowds delight as voices were in full swing throughout the short set.

Snow Patrol showcased that going forward as a trio is something that the crowd still want to receive and something that they can do comfortably both on the stage and off the stage. Ahead of their arena tour in 2025, the trio are more than ready to play an even bigger crowd and not be miniscule on the stage!!
