Malcolm Todd returns to his hometown to close out his Wholesome Rockstar Tour with not just one, but three sold-out shows

At only 21 years old, Malcolm has already built a fiercely loyal fanbase, and seeing him live on the first night of his L.A. run made it clear why. The moment he stepped on stage, there was a sense of ease and authenticity that instantly made the space feel intimate, no matter how many people were packed into the room.
The show was electric from the start, but it wasn’t the kind of overwhelming, overproduced energy some concerts rely on. Malcolm brought something different. Something honest. It was playful and raw, filled with moments of genuine connection between him, his bandmates, and the audience. He carried himself with a surprising confidence for someone his age, but what stood out even more was the joy. Watching him perform felt like watching someone live out their dream in real time. He danced, laughed, and jammed with his friends on stage like it was a garage show for people he loved, not a major tour stop.
Earlier this year, Malcolm released his self-titled album Malcolm Todd, which quickly became a fan favorite. It is a record that dives deep into emotion while keeping his signature sound, a blend of indie, R&B, and pop, totally fresh and captivating. Hearing those songs live was something else entirely. “Bleed” hit harder with the lights low and everyone singing the chorus back at him. “Doll,” my personal favorite, was delicate and aching and felt like a private moment even in a crowd. “Chest Pain (I Love)” took the room from swaying to soaring. You could feel every lyric land.

Of course, he also revisited earlier work from Sweet Boy, a project that helped launch him into wider recognition. Those songs had the crowd screaming the words, jumping, and locking in with his every move. He closed the night with “Roommates,” a track that seems to encapsulate everything people love about Malcolm. It was vulnerable, reflective, and so easy to feel in your bones.
The entire night felt like a celebration of not just his music, but his roots. The warm Los Angeles evening added to the atmosphere, as did the presence of his family in the audience, cheering him on from the crowd. There was something incredibly full circle about it all. This wasn’t just a tour stop. It was a homecoming.
Now that the Wholesome Rockstar Tour has come to an end, we hope Malcolm gets some well-earned rest. But knowing the kind of artist he is, one bursting with creativity, emotion, and a whole lot of soul, it’s hard not to already be looking forward to what he will share with us next. One thing is clear. Malcolm Todd is not just a wholesome rockstar. He is a generational talent, and he is just getting started.
