Sydney born, Berlin based producer Samantha Poulter aka Logic1000 announced in late 2020 that her new EP You've Got The Whole Night To Go will be released 22 January via her own label, Therapy.
Following the previously shared 'Perfume' and lead EP single 'I Won't Forget', today she has followed up with another track from the EP in the form of 'Medium', a track imbued with so much movement and life that it's impossible to resist - today featured on New Music Daily on Apple Music. This year Poulter has already appeared in in Pitchfork's most anticipated releases of the year list, the NME 100 list and has been tipped as 'One To Watch' by DJ Mag ; building on praise from The Guardian, Dazed, The Sunday Times, London In Stereo, Beats Per Minute and more for last years 12" single 'Perfume' b/w 'Blossom'. Last year Poulter also remixed tracks for Caribou, Christine and the Queens, Don Toliver and Låpsley, each made uniquely her own.
Speaking of the new track Poulter says:
"I made Medium for those of you who are in the car on the way to the club. It’s a pre party moment. I really feel like this track is reflective of my taste, in it’s truest sense. I’m all about groove and momentum in music and I feel like Medium has those things. The thing I remember most about making this track was the desire to be moving. It was peak lockdown and all I wanted was to have that feeling like I was going somewhere. I wanted to escape."
You’ve Got The Whole Night To Go embraces Poulter's ever growing confidence in her sound. Lockdown meant that for Poulter the instinctive music making approach that has always come naturally to her was able to flourish. "If at any moment I felt inspired or motivated to make music, I would jump into my home studio" she says, "this gave me a sense of purpose while the world seemed to be falling apart".
On You’ve Got The Whole Night To Go Poulter hones her production skills as she continues to feverishly get to grips with doing more herself, "the first one felt like a different producer could have been on each track" she says, “but You've Got The Whole Night To Go seems to have more consistency. I can’t quite put my finger on what that sonic consistency is, but I notice it's there". That’s the key to the continued growth of Logic1000, capturing a moment where things feel right and not trying to overthink it. Listening to her music, that feeling is contagious and energising.
Before she found her musical focus, Poulter was living in her native Melbourne and dabbling in different careers including mental health, children's services, retail, floristry and running her own businesses. A move to Berlin and the release of her debut EP in 2018 changed everything though, steadily bringing widespread acclaim with tracks being played round the world by DJ’s including Four Tet—who, after hearing Poulter’s music via Anthony Naples, included tracks in his Coachella sets and has gone onto support her throughout her career as a mentor and friend, regularly inviting her to join him on line ups. Her music also resonated with supporters such as (to name a few) DJ Python, Fauzia, Ben UFO, OK Williams, Floating Points, Annie Mac and Caribou. This lead to performances at London’s Printworks, Berlin Atonal and many more.
