Launching ‘Show V’: An Artistic Triumph In The Heart Of Manchester

Contemporary hotel chain INNSiDE by Meliã has teamed up with creative PR agency HEADS UK to deliver an astonishing artwork display in the vibrant city of Manchester.

Titled ‘Show V’, the installation can be found on the first floor of Manchester’s INNSiDE by Meliã Hotel in the Deansgate and Castlefield area until October 22nd.

It’s no secret that Manchester is an ever-expanding creative hub, but Show V seems to be particularly well situated here, as it neighbours the independent HOME cinema, theatre, art gallery, and event space, as well as various bars and restaurants.

Against this enticing backdrop, Show V just makes sense, hosting the work of 5 Manchester-based artists each with something different to offer. Whether your favourite is florals, LEGO®, portraits, abstract, or neo-soul music, Show V’s diverse range is a no-brainer event for anyone looking to find something new.

The featured artists include the talented Dorcas Hope, MUL, Dale, and Charlotte Bradley. Their buzzing launch night also featured a new mural installation by Amy Coney and live music from Mali Hayes.

Launch night itself was a complete success, bringing together a celebratory community and fellow art admirers who were intrigued by not just individual pieces, but running themes within larger collections.

Read more about each artist’s work, mediums, and inspirations below:

1)  Dorcas Hope / @dorcashopeart

Dorcas is a multi-media portrait artist with a BA Hons in Fine Art. Her work focuses on black female subjectivity and celebrates the beauty of black femininity through recurring themes of mirrors, reflections, identity, and gaze. Her stunningly introspective pieces currently displayed at Show V are aptly named ‘Reflections’, ‘Serenity’, ‘To Be Seen’, and ‘Visible’.

2)  MUL / @artbymul

Mancunian MUL’s art combines his over-active creative mind with his desire to doodle and draw, taking form in vibrant patterns, delicious bursts of colour, and fluid lines. Show V is yet another success for MUL as with over 10 years of experience, he has produced work for many independent businesses and internationally renowned names. You can appreciate this zesty flair in the flesh via his pieces ‘Bottom Riser’, ‘The Deep’, ‘Inner Spiral’, ‘Head-Bop’, ‘Breadth’, and ‘City Sleepers’ in Show V’s exhibition.

3)  Dale / @_artbydale

Salford-based Dale has utilised his rekindled love of LEGO® to bring extraordinary 1of1 LEGO® portraits to Show V, including icons Bob Marley and Sir David Attenborough, as well as animals ‘W.L. Gorilla’ and ‘A. B. Elephant’. Dale has experimented with different mediums throughout his life and found that through his current dedication to LEGO®, he can carefully capture the essence, beauty, and individuality of each subject.

4)  Charlotte Bradley / @charl.art

Charlotte is an Art Historian and Fine Artist born in Salford. She is intrigued by the more mysterious aspects of a painting such as the movements, distortion, and gestural marks which are integrated into her artistic practices. For example, Charlotte largely draws on music when painting, inspiring energetic, flowing, and unpredictable brush movements, all of which can be seen in her Show V pieces ‘Alright Petal’, ‘Disturbed Harmony’, ‘Echoes’, Ethereal Window’, and ‘Let’s Bloom’.

5) Mali Hayes / @malihayes

Singer-songwriter Mali Hayes helped to cement the evening’s creative, personal energy with her soulful music. Her music combines elements of soul, jazz, and RnB to create a mesmerising sound, reminiscent of ELIZA and Erykah Badu. Laced with honesty and integrity, Mali uses her music to bring awareness to important issues, including climate change and its irreversible damage in ‘Save Ourselves’. She performed 4 original tracks and also treated us to the debut of her new music video for her newest single, which visitors can admire through headphones throughout Show V’s 2-month installation.

Show V is nothing short of a refined, eclectic, beautiful exhibition - and they have certainly upheld their ethos of #StayCreative and #StayCurious. By providing a 2-month home for artists to showcase their talents, artistic processes, and innermost thoughts, each artist has delivered something that is uniquely theirs and added to the pre-existing imaginative, explorative foundations of Manchester.

Show V is available to visit free of charge until October 22nd 2024.
