LISTEN HERE

OUT JUNE 3RD VIA KWES' LABELBOKKLE

Released via Kwes' (Loyle CarnerDamon Albarn, Solange) label Bokkle. A singer/songwriter/composer from Walthamstow, East London - Tamara has previously performed, playing keyboards with the likes of Tirzah and Toro Y Moi - and her new material features Georgia on percussion, with Kwes playing bass and on production duties. My Eyes feels at once both fresh and classic, lyrically nostalgic, it remains undeniably positive despite the anguish shining through Tamara's sumptuous vocals.

Elan Tamara says of her new release "‘My Eyes’ as a song about “the highs and lows of a long distance relationship she was in at the time/not being able to spend time with loved ones” and that it’s “musically inspired by Afro Cuban music, Steve Reich, Brian Wilson and Balinese gamelan"

During and after studying ethnomusicology at SOAS Tamara self-released 2 EPs while going on to release another EP via Ninja Tune imprint, Big Dada. Tamara radiates a timeless jazz instinct while sounding decidedly current and very in-keeping with London's vibrant and forward-thinking jazz scene. She may well be the hidden gem in that world - an artist who other musicians reference, now stepping out on her own.

Inspired by a childhood listening to everything from Tito Puente, Steely Dan, Van Halen to Björk - Tamara is an artist who defies genre and expectation. Expect to see more of her in 2020.
