Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis has captured hearts worldwide with his deeply emotional music and unforgettable melodies. With over 14 billion streams and a global fanbase, his raw, honest lyrics resonate with millions. Following his 2022 release The Hardest Love, Dean is back with his highly anticipated album The Epilogue and a massive 2025 tour. In this interview, Dean shares insights into his new music, reflects on life back in Sydney, and opens up about navigating the pressures of the music industry.
Last time we saw you in Liverpool, you were on a world tour. Where are you now?
I’m back home in Sydney at the moment, which is such a nice change of pace. I’ve been touring so much these last few years, and being by the beach, spending time with my family—it’s really grounding. I’m enjoying the downtime before everything kicks off again.
Your new album The Epilogue just dropped! What can fans expect from it, and what’s the meaning behind the title?
The Epilogue is a reflection on endings and new beginnings. It’s about looking back on life, relationships, and experiences with the clarity you get once you’ve moved past them. A lot of the songs are about growth—personal, emotional, and even spiritual. The title really represents that sense of closure and moving forward.
What is the track "Empire" about?
"Empire" is one of the core tracks on the album, and it’s really about how we try to build something lasting—whether it’s a relationship, a career, or just a sense of identity. But no matter how much we try to control things, life throws challenges our way, and sometimes what we build starts to crumble. It’s a song about resilience and accepting that we can’t control everything.
You recently released a cover of Coldplay’s "Fix You" with Daniel Seavey What drew you to that song, and how did the collaboration come about?
"Fix You" is such a powerful, emotional song, and it’s always been a favorite of mine. When Leavy and I connected, we were looking for something that felt timeless and meaningful. We decided to give it a fresh spin while staying true to the raw emotion of the original. It’s a special track, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. Daniel is also opening my tour in 2025, he is very talented and I'm so grateful we got to work together.
You've always performed "Yellow" on stage. Why not that track?
I felt like I needed something new and it's "Fix You"by Coldplay. Everyone knows it.
You’re set to play Wembley Arena in London in 2025. How does it feel to take the stage at such an iconic venue?
Honestly, it’s surreal. Wembley is one of those dream venues, and to think I’ll be playing there is wild. I’m really excited to perform the new songs from The Epilogue there. I think it’s going to be an unforgettable night, for both me and the fans.
You’re constantly on social media. How do you navigate being always online?
It’s definitely stressful at times. The music industry is changing so much, and being active on social media is just part of it now. You have to constantly be connected, which can be demanding, but it also lets me stay close to the fans. It’s a balance I’m still figuring out.
How do you approach songwriting for such personal albums?
Songwriting has always been about honesty for me. I can’t write something unless I’m feeling it, so a lot of my songs come from personal experiences—things I’ve been through or emotions I’m working through. I think that’s why people connect with the music because it’s real. I just try to stay true to what I’m feeling and let that guide the process.

You’ve been touring for years now with not a lot of time off in between. How do you stay grounded while being on the road so much?
It’s tough, but I try to keep a sense of routine, even when I’m traveling. Things like working out, staying in touch with my family, and making sure I take time for myself between shows help a lot. But honestly, it’s the fans who keep me going. Seeing how much the music means to them makes all the hard days worth it.
What’s next for you after the release of The Epilogue and the 2025 tour?
I’m really focused on the tour for now, but I’m always writing. I don’t think I ever stop thinking about the next project. After Wembley, I’d love to spend some more time creating and maybe even experiment with different sounds or collaborations. But for now, it’s all about getting this new music out to the fans and giving them the best live shows I can.
With your career hitting new heights every year, how do you keep evolving as an artist?
I think the key is to stay curious. I’m always trying to learn and grow, whether it’s from life experiences or from working with other artists. It’s important not to get too comfortable. Each album, each tour, I want to bring something new and push myself to explore different themes and sounds. That’s what keeps me excited about making music.
