Crack Cloud share video for 'Favour Your Fortune', taken from debut album, Pain Olympics

With their incendiary debut album proper ,PAIN OLYMPICS, still very much fresh in the mind, Vancouver collectiveCrack Cloud return today with a new video for 'Favour Your Fortune'. An explosive highlight on album full of them, 'Favour Your Fortune' combines hip-hop sub bass with tribalistic vocals in a way which evokes gangster rap and 90s Japanese outfit Seo Taji and Boys, before seamlessly exploding into a barrage of electronic hardcore that recalls the likes of Death Grips and Show Me the Body. It’s an outrageously ambitious track and affirms Crack Cloud’s position as real innovators of their genre.

In keeping with the scope of the track - and the series of mesmerising videos that have accompaniedPAIN OLYMPICS- the video, which stars pro-skateboarderJoe Buffalo, is a suitably explosive affair. Beginning with an opening scrawl that quotes Eris Nyx of Vancouver activists Coalition of Peers Dismantling the Drug War (C.P.D.D.W), it highlights the war on drugs as a fundamentally oppressive force that creates a cycle of imprisonment, class and racial hatred, and, ultimately, death. What follows is a stunning and startling rebuke of surveillance society and the cultural stranglehold that suffocates us all.
