Chezile’s First Headlining Show in LA Was a Night of Raw Beauty, Honesty, and Connection

On a warm night in the City of Angels, the kind of night that makes the whole city feel like it’s holding its breath for something beautiful, Alejandro Sanchez—also known as Chezile—took the stage for his first LA show. And for those of us lucky enough to be there, it was more than just a concert. It was a memory, a feeling, a moment we’ll carry with us.

Before Chezile stepped into the spotlight, the evening was set into motion by James from Valley Boy, who opened the show with an intimate and captivating set. His solo performance created a quiet reverence in the room, laying the emotional groundwork for what was to come. James later returned to the stage as part of Chezile’s band, joined by Michael Coleman and Kevin Farzard. Together, the three supported Chezile with a chemistry that felt effortless and genuine.

There was something special about the way they moved through the set—not just as musicians, but as friends deeply in sync. Each of them brought an unspoken energy that filled the room, grounding the performance in something deeper than sound. It wasn’t just about playing the songs well (though they absolutely did); it was about showing up for each other and creating something honest in real time. Their connection radiated outward, making the audience feel like we were witnessing something personal, something real.

And when Chezile entered the stage, something shifted. The noise fell away, the crowd leaned in, and suddenly, all of us were in his world. There’s a quiet power in the way Chezile performs—he doesn’t demand attention; he simply invites you in, and before you know it, you’re completely under his spell. From the very first note, it was clear this show wasn’t about spectacle or performance. It was about truth.

Chezile’s voice is smooth and strong, capable of hitting every note with ease, but it’s the emotion behind the voice that truly strikes you. His lyrics, raw and unfiltered, poured out like confessions. There were moments in the show where it felt less like we were watching an artist perform and more like we were witnessing Alejandro—a young man peeling back the layers of himself in real time.

One of the most touching moments of the night was when Chezile spoke about growing up and the feeling of being more comfortable at other people’s homes than his own. You could hear the vulnerability in his voice, and for many in the audience, it was a deeply relatable truth. In sharing these stories, he wasn’t asking for sympathy—he was creating space. Space to be honest. Space to be human. Space to heal.

The setlist wove through unreleased tracks, old favorites, and even a cover of “No One Noticed” by The Marías—a song Chezile wished he had written. His rendition was tender and reverent, a love letter to another artist whose work clearly means something to him. That moment felt like an offering—a nod to inspiration, and a glimpse into the kind of artist Chezile is: thoughtful, intentional, humble.

As the main set came to a close, the room erupted into cheers. The crowd wasn’t ready to let go, and neither was Chezile. Answering the call for an encore, he returned to the stage and performed “Beanie”—a song so beautiful it felt like it wrapped its arms around you. And then, just like that, it was over. But the most meaningful part was still to come.

Instead of disappearing backstage, Chezile stayed. He made his way to every single person who waited for him—hugging fans, talking with them, listening, laughing, taking photos. He gave his time, his attention, his energy. And you could tell he wanted to be there. There was no rush, no pretense, no barrier between artist and audience. Just gratitude. Just presence.

Chezile is the kind of artist whose music you might stumble upon once, only to realize later it’s become the soundtrack to some part of your life. He makes you feel seen. He reminds you that softness is strength, and that vulnerability is not something to hide—but something to celebrate.

His new EP “Alē” comes out this Friday, and if what we heard live is any indication, it’s going to be something truly special. Chezile is a rare kind of artist—one who doesn’t just sing to you, but sings for you. With you. And in a world where so many things feel fleeting, this night felt like something real.

If you haven’t listened to Chezile yet, now is the time. His music might just change something in you. And trust me—it’ll be for the better.
