Casino Rockets: Impala

At a time of the year where many music fans such as myself would normally be preparing ourselves to celebrate the wonders of the West Yorkshire music scene at events such as Live At Leeds or Long Division, it is always a very refreshing that in the age of global pandemics, there are still opportunities to discover new music.

Having been working away in the studio the past number of months, Halifax-based quartet Casino Rockets were happy to announce that they will soon be releasing their debut album, Reality Distortion Field. Although the album itself will not be ready for the world to embrace until 21st May 2021, wanting to give folks a little bit of a teaser, the band released Impala, their first single from this highly anticipated album.

Making every opportunity to check out this first slice of the new record, I took the opportunity to listen to Impala myself, which fun fact, also comes with its own official music video too! Clicking that play button for the first time what strikes me about Impala from the offset is the very catchy beat which draws you in, and before you know it, kapow the vocals of Tiv Whitaker kick in.

Combined with the craftsmanship of Rick Anderson on guitar and Dan Lea on bass, and Chris bringing his own magic on drums, it is not long till the energy of Impala is taken to a whole new level. By the end of it, I am left singing along as I am captivated by the special vibe that this song brings.

The music video itself, while it may not give too much away, what it does do is through the artistic use of visuals is give you an indication that when it comes to Casino Rockets they are not afraid to get experimental and mix things up in their own special and unique way.

Has Impala got me excited about the release of Reality Distortion Field? It sure has. I am yet to listen to rest of the album, but if Impala is anything to go by, I have a feeling that it is going to be a good one for sure. So what are you waiting for? Casino Rockets are waiting for you, so don’t delay!
